Michigan was integral in forming my character. I was educated in Michigan public schools from kindergarten through university. Playing and roaming around her creeks, rivers, lakes and woods always gave me joy, and a sense of freedom, and the natural beauty energized me. In my mind, wherever I am, I always go back to the beauty of Michigan when I want to find peace of mind.

Though Michigan gave me my start, I have grown and improved myself in California for the past quarter century. I love the Mediterranean climate of Southern California, the plethora of cultural offerings, the patchwork of different kinds of people, and the mixture of urban and natural settings--ocean, mountains, rolling hills, concrete and incredible architecture spread over a vast area. To me, California represents openness and innovation and creativity and beauty.
